Kotimainen teatraalista metallia soittava Lost In Grey julkaisi uuden albuminsa “Odyssey into the Grey” 5.4.2024.
Harri Koskela: “I’m so overwhelmingly happy to finally release this album. We’ve always aimed to raise the bar on every release, and with this album I certainly think that we succeeded quite nicely again. It’s by far the most ambitious album we’ve done thus far, both musically and production wise. I’m a big fan of storytelling via music, so drama and nuances are in my opinion a key factor in it, and so I feel that our albums are at best when enjoyed as a whole. This album definitely makes no exception with that, so I strongly suggest to sit down, maybe have a glass of wine, and enjoy this musical rollercoaster. For the last video release of the album we chose the song ‘Vem Kan Segla Förutan Vind’ and wanted to honour everyone who participated in making this record.”

Anne Lill kertoo videosta: “‘Vem Kan Segla Förutan Vind´ is one of the first songs I remember from my childhood, or at least the first I remember in my mother tongue Swedish. It’s a traditional song, which supposedly originates from the Åland islands between Finland and Sweden. We then wrote new verses to the song making our own version of the whole. The video was made in documentary style showing us recording and people participating in making this album. We wish to thank everyone involved!”

Yhtye julkaisi aiemmin levyltä singlen ja videon “The Bottomless Pit”.
Harri Koskela kertoo: “‘The Bottomless Pit’ represents the most versatile and theatrical side of the new album, accompanied with lots of orchestral elements. Musically I was inspired by certain movie scores, and some may recognise e.g. some “Ennio Morricone” vibes here and there. This track is one of the first ones which we worked on together with Francesco Ferrini from Fleshgod Apocalypse regarding the orchestral elements, and I’m extremely happy how it turned out! Also, it is one of the two songs we composed together with Anne Lill for this album.”
Anne Lil jatkaa: “Storywise ‘The Bottomless Pit’ is the “villain song” of the upcoming album.The song title stems from a quote from Erich Fromm, “Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction. We sing mainly as our characters but there are two lines in which I’m singing as “myself”. This is also the song in which my character Lillian sort of realises she has a dark side too. As I’m always interested in various forms of art (e.g. writing, singing, visual arts), this time I also did improvised dancing for the music video.”

Kappaleen säveltänyt Harri Koskela kertoo:
“Hailuoto” on akustinen kappale, joka sävellettiin ja jonka sanat kirjoitettiin Hailuodon saarella, joka sijaitsee Perämerellä, Suomessa. Musiikillisesti se sai inspiraationsa saaren kauniista luonnosta, Pohjois-Suomesta ja Norjasta. Vaikka kauneus on läsnä, minulle Hailuodon saarella oli tietynlainen aavemainen tunnelma, kuin menneiden aikojen henkien tai kummitusten läsnäoloa. Noin 300 vuotta sitten noin 800 ihmistä menetti henkensä saarella yhden yön aikana, mikä mielestäni antaa kappaleelle myös ainutlaatuisen melankolisen sävyn. Lisäksi kappaleen kitarat on itse asiassa äänitetty saaren ´maailman pienimmässä studiossa´, kun minä ja Anne Lill vierailimme taiteilijaresidenssissä Hailuodossa vuonna 2022.”
Lyriikat kirjoittanut Anne Lill jatkaa:
“Hailuoto” on kappale, joka kertoo toivon etsimisestä. Tässä laulussa toivo löytyy, ja minua surettaa, että kaikki eivät pysty löytämään sitä. Äskettäin menetimme rakkaan ystävän, joka oli hyvin liikuttunut tästä kappaleesta. Vaikka en kirjoittanut tätä nimenomaan hänelle mielessäni, jälkikäteen siitä tuli tavallaan hänen laulunsa. Kuten kappale “Varjo” edellisellä albumillamme, tunsin tarvetta kirjoittaa sanat suomeksi ilmaistakseni tiettyjä tunteita, joita en pysty ilmaisemaan vieraalla kielellä. Kuvasimme musiikkivideon Bromarvissa kylmänä lokakuun päivänä kovan myrskytuulen aikana. Vaikka se ei ollut tarkoituksellista, kappaleen rauhallinen tahti myrskyn vastakohtana osoittautui mielenkiintoiseksi visualisoinniksi sisäisistä taisteluista, joita ihmiset saattavat kohdata. Toivon, että kappale ja video voivat muistuttaa ihmisiä siitä, että yhdessä voimme auttaa toisiamme selviytymään mistä tahansa.”
Yhtye julkaisi aiemmin tulevan albumin kansitaiteen ja biisilistan. Kannen on suunnitellut ja toteuttanut Miika Haavisto ja Mikko Virtanen.
Miika kertoo: “My intention has been to create a visual journey also in the album cover art works. On the first album we are introduced with the nameless cloaked creature portraited in one way or another also on the other albums. On the 2nd album it takes the form of the mountains of the waste land, and on the 3rd, it’ is positioned in the sea, under the surface.The starting point for creating the cover art for this 4th album was the thought of the entourage travelling with a horse carriage guided by this creature through the gloomy landscapes of the Grey Realms. In the background we can spot the mountains also visible in “The Waste Land” album cover art.”

Yhtye julkaisi aiemmin levyltä ensimmäisen singlen “The Entourage” videon kera.
Anne Lill kertoo: “This new album continues the Grey Realms saga, and this song presents us, the actors, and the characters we are playing. It is also an invitation to the listener to come and join our twisted musical adventure. In the music video we can see the band members in various backstage activities before and after the show.”
Harri Koskela jatkaa: “‘The Entourage’ is the bombastic opening track of Lost in Grey’s upcoming fourth album, as well as the first single release. It was also the first song composed for this new album. I tend to like to start the new album composing process by exploring where I would like our music to travel next based on where we ended the previous release. This album was no exception to that, and I truly had a nice, adventurous journey with this song, as well as with the rest of the album songs. Musically ’The Entourage’ represents the album quite well, as most of our main elements are featured on it, and it’s dramatic, complex… a musical rollercoaster.”
