“Bonehead” EP:llä soundiaan esitellyt stoner-rockista ammentava Rückwater on saanut ensimmäisen pitkäsoittonsa “Supernovan” valmiiksi. Sysmän perukoilla livenä äänitetty teos tarjoaa sekoituksen kovaa ajoa ja jyrkkiä mutkia. Tiukan power-trion soundi syntyy kahden vahvan laulajan ja dýnaamisen rumpalin saumattomasta yhteistyöstä.

Tamperelainen Väki on juuri nyt ajankohtainen yhtye. Vuonna 2016 perustetun black metal -viisikon on määrä julkaista debyyttialbuminsa heinäkuun puolivälissä. Otimme tästä johtuen käsittelyyn bändin ensimmäisen, ”Kirous”-nimeä tottelevan EP:n vuodelta 2017.
Väki luottaa musiikissaan raakutteen, mutta samalla teknisempään ulosantiin. Tuotantopuoli on kaukana käppäisyydestä ja tämä tekee oikeutta lopputulokselle. Bändi onnistuu saavuttamaan hieman Moonsorrow-tyyppistä tunnelmaa EP:n 11 minuuttiin puristetun kokonaisuuden aikana.
Kyseessä on lupaava ensiteos, jonka pohjalta voi odottaa paljon. Heinäkuussa saatetaan nimittäin kuulla levy, joka murjoo itsensä tämän julkaisuvuoden kärkikahinoihin (kotimaisen) mustan metallin sarjassa.
Anthrax juhlistaa “Persistence Of Time” -levyn 30-vuotisjuhlaa julkaisemalla 2CD/DVD sekä 4LP -versiot elokuussa. Alkuperäisen remasteroidun albumin lisäksi julkaisu sisältää demoja, harjoitusottoja sekä livemateriaalia. DVD sisältää 40 minuutin verran materiaalia yhtyeen vuoden 1991 kiertueelta Iron Maidenin kanssa. DVD:llä nähdään mm. kitaristi Scott Ianin, basisti Frank Bellon sekä rumpali Charlie Benanten vierailu Maidenin keikalla ”Sanctuaryn” aikana.
”Persistence Of Time” oli aikanaan Anthraxin viimeinen täysi studiolevy vokalisti Joey Belladonnan kanssa ennen John Bushin saapumista yhtyeeseen. Albumi sai myös Grammy-ehdokkuuden vuoden 1991 metallikategoriassa.

It was such a great time for the band and for music. We were, I felt, way more experienced. And even the bands that came up with us too had breaking moments at that point too; Metallica were putting out the “Black Album”. So things were totally changing. This was around 1990, and I think heavy metal was starting to become a different source for people.I think the ‘Persistence’ record and the vibe that was around it was so much more…
We were so free at that point to do what we wanted, and we weren’t worried like we were with the other ones. And the tone of it was just kind of darker, but I think that’s because of what we dealt with the prior year or two. We also had a fire during that time [at the band’s equipment storage space, destroying over $100,000 of their prized instruments and other gear]. So we were going through just life challenges as a band. And individually too, we were going through things. So I think that record is a complete reflection on us at that time.

Uuden hard rockin tähtikokoonpano Camun tulevalta debyyttialbumilta on lohkaistu ensimmäinen single ja video ”Bamboo Road”.
Camussa on jäseniä mm. bändeistä Bodom After Midnight (Middy Toivonen-Basso, myös ex-Santa Cruz) ja Andy McCoyn bandistä (Dallas– Kitara, Tikka-Rummut).
Muilla bändin jäsenillä on historiaa ja yhteyksiä mm. Nakedista (Camu-laulu, Tikka) ja Caroline – Flippipuistosta (Vainio-kitara). Kyseessä siis Helsingin uusi supergroup, tosin laulaja Camu asuu tätä nykyä Havaijilla.
Bändi kertoo seuraavaa:
Biisi on energistä kitarapohjaista Rock`n’rollia freshillä otteella. Toki vaikutteita ammennetaan klassisesta, melodisesta hard rockista ja heavysta, mutta muuten tässä tehdään omaa juttua täysillä. Vastaanotto on jo nyt ollut todella hienoa. Debyyttialbumi on tarkoitus saada ulos alkuvuonna 2021.
Five Finger Death Punch on julkaissut uuden Rob Andersonin karanteeniolosuhteissa ohjaaman musiikkivideon kappaleesta ”A Little Bit Off”. Biisi on nostettu yhtyeen viimeisimmältä albumilta ”F8”.
Ruotsalainen progressiivista death metallia räimivä Descend julkaisi hieman yli yhdeksänminuuttisen kappaleen “Lily”, joka on yhtyeen tulevalta levyltä “The Deviant”.
Death metal -yhtye -16- julkaisi uuden levynsä “Dream Squasher” ja se on kuunneltavissa netissä kokonaisuudessaan.
