“Rise of Insanity on aitoa, pikkukylän poikain metallimusiikkia Jämsästä. Bändi julkaisi helmikuussa Dark Figure – EP:n joka on lähtenyt leviämään verkossa hyvin. Bändi ehti soittaa vain EP-julkkarikeikan ennen kuin keikkamahdollisuudet peruuntui toistaiseksi. Nyt tarjoutui mahdollisuus soittaa stream keikka M-Rec Studiolta ja lopputulos on nähtävissä videolta. Ekokatastrofia ja lajien joukkosukupuuttoa doom metalin raskaudella käsittelevä Cornoctuan julkaisee ensimmäisen singlen syksyllä 2020 ilmestyvältä debyyttialbumiltaan ”Endangered”. Kyseessä on balladimainen ”Lullaby for the Bees”, joka on oululaisyleisölle tuttu jo yhtyeen performanssitaidetta lähenteleviltä keikoilta mutta jonka laajempi yleisö kuulee nyt ensi kertaa.
Lullaby for the Bees on kuunneltavissa kaikissa suurimmissa suoratoistopalveluissa (esim. Spotify, Deezer, Youtube, Apple Music) klo 00 alkaen. Yhtyeen Spotify-sivun löydät täältä.
– Tämä on kevyin kappale koko levyllä, mutta sen sanat ja haikea tunnelma kuvastavat osuvasti levyn syvintä olemusta ja tarinan ydintä. Se on myös ensimmäisiä yhtyeelle sävellettyjä kappaleita, laulaja-lauluntekijä Jenna Eronen kuvailee kappaleen paikkaa albumilla.
– Kappale voi olla kevyt mutta sen sanoma raskas. Tuntuukin, että meillä on paljon sanottavaa, ja toivon, että kappale herättää tunteita ja sanoma iskostuu sitä kautta ihmisten mieliin. Kappaleen ja koko levyn teemat ovat koko ajan vain ajankohtaisempia, Eronen maalailee viitaten yhtyeen omaan fantastiseen mytologiaan, jonka avuin se käsittelee tarinallisesti ympäristön kiihtyvää tuhoa ja ihmisen osuutta siinä.
Overkillin ja Shadows Fallin rumpali Jason Bittner yhdisti voimansa kitaristi Felipe Roanin (Shadows Fall), Bobby Koeblen (Death) ja basisti Steve Di Giorgion (Testament, Death) kanssa. Tuloksena syntyi karanteenioloissa jamiteltu musavideo kappaleesta “Overactive Imagination”.

“Well there’s a bunch of explaining that goes along with this video and a history of sorts…….after the whole pandemic started, I contacted my longtime friend and former bandmate Felipe Roa (Shadows Fall touring guitarist after Jon joined Anthrax) to see if he wanted to do some “quarantine covers” and I proposed “Wake Up Dead” by Megadeth, and by now you have seen that one. At the time of discussion Felipe asked if I wanted to do a Death tune, knowing that they are one of my all-time fave bands as well as his, and we used to jam Death in soundchecks all the time. Initially my first reaction “ummmm, I don’t know if I want to do that much WORK, hahaha,” but as soon as he said “Overactive Imagination” I was in – I used to jam this song all the time in my formative years but I did wonder if I could still pull it off. After a couple days of shedding and trying to be 25 again, we had a completed drum track, which I even sent to my pals (former Death drummers) Richard Christy and Gene Hoglan for “approval”. Sean already gave me the green light from Heaven. At first we were just going to do it the two of us, but I had a plan. Here’s some crazy trivia – while I attended Berklee College of Music in the 80’s, I played in a band with Bobby Koeble and we actually recorded a few original songs wayyyyyy back in the late 80’s. Bobby later went on to join Death for the Symbolic album and still plays in Death to All. After not speaking for over 30 years I hit up Bobby, reconnected (which I’d been meaning to do for years) and asked him if he wanted to do this tune with us and he said yes right away. He asked who was playing bass and I told him Felipe probably would do that too………unless…….“Unless what? Unless I can get Steve to do it……So the next point was to contact my friend, and one of the greatest bass players out there, Mr. Steve DiGiorgio to see if this could be possible. At first Steve wasn’t’ sure if he could commit due to his many projects, so we actually asked our friend Bill Bodily (Ex- Toxik, Flotsam and Jetsam touring bassist) to do the bass since Steve wasn’t available. In the meantime, I had sent Steve the track after we put Bobby on it just to “make sure” he couldn’t do it. I had a feeling if Bobby committed, Steve would follow. A week later he did send his tracks, so first off THANK YOU to Steve for going above and beyond in such a quick and timely manner, and also to Bill for being our “backup”, sorry it didn’t work out – next time! So there you have it folks, we put a lot of work into this one because we absolutely love this band in every incarnation, and I am proud to say that I am friends with a lot of the people who have played in their ranks so…….so this one goes out to……Terry Butler, James Murphy, Richard Christy, and Gene Hoglan. Lastly, a moment to remember past members Scott Clendenin, my former bandmate and friend Ralph Santolla, my longtime friend and mentor Sean Reinert, and lastly the one and only Chuck Schuldiner for being one of the greatest songwriters to ever grace the Metal world!! Black metallia, rock’n’rollia sekä punkkia yhdistelevä norjalaisyhtye Kvelertak esittää stream keikan 20.7.2020 klo 22 Suomen aikaa. Bändi lupaa faneille harvinaisuuksia ja klassikoita, kilpailuja sekä Q&A-session. Yhtyeen oli määrä esiintyä Helsingin Tavastialla ja Tampereen Klubilla maaliskuun lopussa 2020. First of all, we hope that all of you are safe and in good health! We really miss playing shows and interacting with our fans, but we are fortunate to be able to rehearse and continue to make new music.
We were supposed to be out playing festivals right now and continuing to promote our newest album “Splid”. Since that’s not possible we have planned a new live stream event to try and make up for it.
We’ve booked the studio where we recorded “Nattesferd” and turned it into a Kvelertak ‘game show’ set. We’ll be spinning the Kvelertak Setlist of Fortune – we’ve dug up some old classics and rehearsed songs we’ve never, or seldom, played live before.
There will be a proper Q&A and we’ll take a couple requests. Everyone who buys a ticket will be entitled to join a competition to win some pretty rad prizes. We’ll be giving out a guitar, a Kvelertak limited numbered skate deck, rare demos, custom picks, signed vinyls and our onstage prop owls.

A song about people who don’t ever let themselves be happy. Overwhelming negativity seems to be a goddamn culture these days, and poor are the ones who think life is about contemplating your own insignificant problems. I’m sure the simplicity of life has added greatly to this phenomenon- people are sick for not worrying about real life problems so they think they can elevate to have unrealistic expectations about their lives. Rightfully life will bring everyone of us to our knees sooner or later.

Tiivistämölle 13. maaliskuuta suunnitellulle Havukruunu, Decaying ja Church of the Dead -keikalle on löytynyt korvaava päivämäärä. Uusi päivämäärä on lauantai 28. marraskuuta 2020.
Havukruunu soittaa Tiivistämöllä harvinaislaatuisen headliner keikan! Bathoryn ja Moonsorrowin tyyliin uskollisella black/pagan -metallillaan kotimaista skeneä ravisuttanut bändi on herättänyt runsaasti mielenkiintoa myös ulkomailla. Harvoin ja valikoidusti keikkaileva Havukruunu on ’Havulinnaan’ sekä ’Kelle Surut Soi’ täyspitkiensä tiimoilta jakanut lavoja mm. Full Of Hellin, Nifelheimin sekä Hornan kanssa.
Illan toisena artistina nähdään kotimainen death metal -yhtye Decaying. Vanhan liiton Asphyxin sekä Bolt Throwerin tyyliin vannova yhtye viettää tänä vuonna 10-vuotisjuhlavuottaan. Suomen lisäksi myös Saksassa, Hollannissa ja Venäjällä keikkailut Decaying julkaisi viidennen levynsä, ‘Shells Will Fall’ toukokuussa FDA Recordsin kautta.
Illan avaa kotimainen death metal -yhtye CHURCH OF THE DEAD. Tuskafestivaalin lavallakin soittanut yhtye on julkaissut vuosien saatossa useita EP:tä ja on julkaisemassa elokuussa ensimmäisen täyspitkänsä.
Italian Turinista tuleva alt rock/metal yhtye Jax Diaries julkaisi coverin pop-yhtye Backstreet Boysin kappaleesta “Everybody”. Videolla bändi tekee pilaa italialaisista stereotypioista. Osansa saa paavi, pizzaväki ja Silvio Berlusconi.

Brasilian Sao Paulosta suuntaava heavy/thrashia soittava Warred on julkaissut tulevalta debyytiltään sinkun “Behind the Mask”, joka on yhtyeen ensimmäinen musiikkivideo.

The lyrics show the contrast and innocence of people who follow false idols and accept them regardless of their usurpation in their lives, taking into account lust and mediocrity as a parameter of success. “, kertoo yhtyeen laulaja Pedro Mion.
Seinäjokinen Mortyfear on julkaisemassa myöhemmin tänä vuonna toista albumiaan, joka kantaa nimeä “Dystopia”. Levy sisältää kahdeksan uutta biisiä ja tarkempi julkaisuajankohta ilmoitetaan myöhemmin. Bändin debyyttilevy “God’s Skin” ilmestyi jo vuonna 2006 Darwin’s Scars levy-yhtiön toimesta.
Vokalisti Janne Keskitalo kommentoi: “Olemme erittäin innoissamme tulevan albumin ensimmäisen singlen julkaisusta.
Olemme työstäneet pitkään ja hartaasti musiikin parissa ja olemme kaataneet musiikkiimme kaiken, mitä me olemme. Musiikki kuulostaa kovalta ja voimakkaalta, mutta silti tunnelmalliselta, ja olemme hyvin ylpeitä siitä mitä olemme saaneet aikaan.
