Uutta levyä valmisteleva Finntroll esiintyi perjantaina 23.2.2018 Wacken Winter Nights – festivaaleilla Saksassa. Vokalisti Vreth ja kitaristi Routa kertovat festareiden yhteydessä tehdyssä haastattelussa musiikkinsa olemuksesta ja uuden materiaalin suunnasta. Bändin festarikeikka on myös katsottavissa kokonaisuudessaan.
Finntroll kertoo musiikistaan seuraavaa:
We always try to find some new elements to Finntroll-music. I don’t know how to describe it. The basic Finntroll is kind of black metalish punk and then we just add different weird elements. We don’t plan it, they just come sometimes even in studio we keep adding saxophone and other weird instruments. From that we find the red thread for the whole album. We haven’t found that for the new stuff yet. We are still missing that kind of idea or twist although there are those folk elements and shamanism. Forces of nature are really strong in Finntroll, I don’t imagine us ever doing a thrash metal album for example, it would be wrong. So there has to be those elements but we never plan too far ahead.
