Real black metal is chaotic, destructive and emotional. We take that destructive energy into grandiose and magnificent musical form. But I am no one to say this the absolute truth of what Satanism is. My personal opinion is that Satanism is a word many decades ago just as it is now, that it is symbolic or metaphor of absolute, maintaining an open mind to absolutely anything. In modern society we call that atheism but I think Satanism goes beyond that. It maintains a spiritual element. It’s almost like an atheist keeping an open mind to anything that goes beyond the rational. The difference in black metal is that we like to experiment with these ideas of chaos and destruction. What we would like to see as evil. Always maintaining dark side of life but always harnessing and controlling chaos. We like to see us as a super massive black hole where anything good or bad comes out, we just consume it and carry it and get bigger. Not let it destroy you but harness and learn from it. That’s Satanism to me. Controlling fire.
