| Bändin nimi? | The name is GOLDSMITH. It’s my family name. I first wanted to have a real „Band-Name“ but couldn’t find anything cool, so i kept the name GOLDSMITH. Now i like it cause it has Metal in it. |
| Yhtyeen genre? | We play classic Rock mixed with Thrash-Metal and Heavy Metal. You can also find parts of Blues in our music. |
| Ketä yhtyeeseen kuuluu? | We are a three-piece: there’s Christoph Brandes on the Drums / Dominik Schweizer on Bass Guitar and Michael Goldsmith on Guitar and Vocals |

| Yhtyeenne esikuvat? | I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s so my influences are bands like Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Maiden…From 2005 til 2015 I spent 10 Years on the Road with Blues Guitarist Bernard Allison. That’s where my blues influence comes from. Dominik, the bass player, listens to a lot of Indie-Rock and Christoph is a Death- and Black-metal maniac. I studied Jazz Guitar and listen to a lot of Wes Montgomery, George Benson or Jim Hall. So we have a wide variety of sounds that influenced us. |
| Kertokaa yhtyeenne taustatarina? | The Band was formed back in 2012 with a different line-up. We released our first album in 2013 called „Shut Up & Rock“ and another album called „Fire!“ in 2016. Those 2 albums are more bluesy /classic Rock cause that was about the time when i worked a lot wit Bernard Allison. So i was surrounded by blues musicians 24/7. After i quit the Bernard Allison-Group in 2016 i got back to my Metal-Roots and started to write the songs for the new album. I quickly realized, that it’s time to change things up cause the new material is a lot heavier and faster than what i did before. I looked for a studio to record the new album and found the „Iguana-Studios“ close to where i live. Christoph Brandes (the owner of the recording studio) listened to the demos and really liked the new songs. He offered me to produce the album and also to play the drums. He’s a really good metal and rock drummer and also a fantastic producer and engineer. Dominik the bass player studied also Jazz Music, that’s where i know him from. |
| Minkälaiset tavoitteet yhtyeellänne on? | It would be cool to get the chance to play a little Tour to promote the Album. We also made a video for one of the songs and we hope it gonna be successful. It’s gonna be released in a bit. |
| Minkälainen työnjako musiikin tekemisessä on? | I did all the songwriting and the arrangements. After i did the demos for the songs i send them to Christoph and Dominik and they figured out their Bass and Drum parts. During the recording process we changed little things here and there. Christoph was responsible for the engineering. He know what mic to use or what pre-amp and he’s very quick working with his DAW. Dominik came up with the basslines and some additional arrangement ideas. |
| Millainen kokemus bändinne on livenä ja miksi yhtyeenne keikoille kannattaa tulla? | Since the line-up is new, we are just working on getting a live set together. There will be an additional guitar player when we play live. It’s gonna be an energetic show with a lot of dynamics. |

| Avatkaa uuden levynne taustoja. Mikä on toiminut levyn inspiraationa? | I got back to my metal roots and tried to put all those elements that inspired me when i was between 15 and 25 into the album. I always like albums that has intros. Like „Master of Puppets“ or „Seventh Son“ , so i came up with the spaghetti western tune at the top auf the album. I played around with different time-signatures and keys and worked hard on the guitar solos to get that 80’s metal feel. I got inspired from working with a symphonic orchestra, that’s where all the guitar layers come from and also the backing vocals. My goal was to keep the listeners attention. |
| Minkä bändin kanssa lähtisitte kaikkein mieluiten kiertämään maailmaa? | Hmmm.. that’s a tough one. Of course it would be cool to tour with a big band like Maiden, Metallica or Muse, to name a few. That’s probably the best way to get your music out there. But i would also like to play with a little „smaller“ bands like Night Demon. Right now every possibility to play live would be cool for us. Let’s see what happens…… |
| Jos uudelta levyltä/vanhasta tuotannosta pitäisi suositella kahta biisiä, niin mitkä ne olisivat ja miksi? | I would recommend „Inherit The Wind“ from the new album cause it has a wide variety from quiet, clean parts to fast and heavy parts and also „…for those with the dreams that were crushed“ cause it it is a ballad and pretty naked. It’s just an acoustic guitar and vocals in the beginning and then later it get’s heavier and busier. I was’t sure with that song but i really like the way it came out. It’s pretty atypical for a metal or rock album…. |
| Mikä musiikki kolahtaa yhtyeellenne juuri nyt? | To be honest, not much right now…i am pretty busy with the promotion and other things that there is hardly any time to relax and enjoy other music. I hope there will be more time in July and August to concentrate on new music and bands and new influences The last record is listened to was the new Ghost-Album. I like it even when it’s pretty mainstream. Tobias Forge is a very good songwriter and knows exactly what he wants. I am fascinated by the way he transforms that ABBA-type melodies and harmonic structures into the heavy sound. That’s really cool. |
| Muita asioita, joita haluatte kertoa yhtyeestänne: | Please check out our drummers other band called „Thron“. They are playing Blackmetal and i really like it. He also owns a studio in Germany, so if you think about recording make sure you check out the „Iguana-Studios“ close to Freiburg / Germany. Dominik will also release a solo album in a couple weeks that very interesting. |
