| Ketä yhtyeeseen kuuluu? | We are more of a project than a band, and we have fluctuating membership. In total 36 female musicians have played on at least one Chaos Rising songs, but at any one time we will have several teams working on music, and new members are joining all the time. |
| Mistä yhtyeenne on kotoisin? | All over the world! We have members from 18 countries. |
| Yhtyeenne esikuvat? | Our musicians have many different influences, and this is reflected in our double album, which has one ‘extreme’ side, with death, thrash etc, and then a ‘melodic’ side with symphonic metal, melodic metalcore, progressive etc. |
| Kertokaa yhtyeenne taustatarina? | Chaos Rising was created in 2019 by Stéphanie Nolf (France, multi-instrumentalist, Unsafe/Syrinx) with the aim of providing opportunities for female metal musicians across the world to collaborate. The project really took off and has gone from strength to strength, resulting our double album, The Singles, which showcases our work and will be released on 14th October. |
| Minkälaiset tavoitteet yhtyeellänne on? | When the project began there were no specific goals other than bringing women together to play metal music. But we have always set ourselves the very highest standards – of songwriting, recording and production – so that we can showcase the very best of women in metal. We are proud of the opportunities we have created, and the gaps we have filled in areas of metal where women have been underrepresented. We plan to continue creating music and hope that the project will gain more recognition. |
| Minkälainen työnjako musiikin tekemisessä on? | All songs are collaborations; everyone does their own recording and films themselves for the videos. But the bulk of the songwriting is done by 2 or 3 of us, there are 2 or 3 of us who can edit videos, and until now all the mixing and production has been done by Stéphanie. |
| Millainen kokemus bändinne on livenä ja miksi yhtyeenne keikoille kannattaa tulla? | We have never played live! Since we are an international project, with our members spread all over the world, it would be very difficult to organise. However many people have asked us questions about live shows, so perhaps it is something we could try to do in the future. Most of us play live regularly in our other bands, and it is certainly something we would like to do. |

| Avatkaa uuden levynne taustoja. Mikä on toiminut levyn inspiraationa? | It is a double album, and it is a unique concept, since it has an ‘extreme’ side and a ‘melodic’ side. We don’t know any other metal bands that work across subgenres like that, and we hope that people who listen to the album will discover new types of metal. We decided to make a double album so that we could showcase all of our work so far. The songs were re-mixed and re-mastered for the album, and the cover artwork and CD digipack design were by Tina Gruschwitz. |
| Minkä bändin kanssa lähtisitte kaikkein mieluiten kiertämään maailmaa? | We all have very different influences and musical tastes – if we were ever to tour it could be cool to play with other all-female metal bands, such as Crypta, Nervosa, Burning Witches, Konvent. But we all play in other bands with men, and what we love is that metal is becoming more inclusive for everyone. |
| Jos uudelta levyltä/vanhasta tuotannosta pitäisi suositella kahta biisiä, niin mitkä ne olisivat ja miksi? | For our extreme side, try Silent Dasein or Thrive. For our melodic side, try Prisoner. But every Chaos Rising song has a completely different feel! |
| Mikä musiikki kolahtaa yhtyeellenne juuri nyt? | We all like different types of metal, and it’s worth checking out some of the awesome music that our members are releasing with their other bands – try Unsafe, Demorphed, Virocracy, Hiraes, Crypta, Exorbitant Prices Must Diminish… |
