Black Sabbathin vuonna 1970 julkaisema kakkos-LP ”Paranoid” täyttää 50 vuotta.
Arvostettu Rolling Stone-lehti listasi vuonna 2017 100 kaikkien aikojen parasta metallialbumia perusteluineen. Listan kärjessä komeilee ”Paranoid”. Uransa helmikuussa 2017 viimeisiin keikkoihin päättänyt Sabbath on ainoa yhtye, joka sai tuolloin kaksi julkaisua kymmenen parhaan joukkoon, sillä myös yhtyeen legendaarinen debyyttilevy löytyi sijalta viisi. Lisäksi laulaja Ozzy Osbournen 40 vuotta täyttävä ”Blizzard Of Ozz”– sooloalbumi (1980) ylsi yhdeksänneksi.

”Paranoid” was the sound of Black Sabbath’s reality, a plea for understanding that would resonate with millions of people feeling the same disaffection, many of whom would form groups like Metallica, Pantera and Slipknot – groups that would change the face of metal, as well as the world. The album was metal’s call to arms, and it’s been answered loudly and passionately ever since.
